White Cube Lusanga, Jean Kawata & Ced’art Tamasala / CATPC 2020

This is the White Cube of Lusanga, crowned by the Pende sculpture of Balot and intermingled with sacred sculptures looted during the colonial era: one façade shows the violent history of palm oil extraction and another the destruction of nature alongside the birth of CATPC. The remaining façades reveal the post-plantation flourishing as monoculture turns into sacred forest, until it reaches peak form, trees heavy with fruit and a group of sculptures leaving the cube with Balot facing the public.

This sculpture is packed into a White Cube box.
